Parent–School Partnership: An Evidence-Informed, Internationally Accredited Leadership Development Program

For School Directors, Principals & Vice-Principals

Thursday, 8 October 2026 | Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights | 9:45 AM onwards

About the Program

Parent–School Partnership: Building Trust is a professional leadership development programme designed to help school leaders strengthen trust, communication, and collaboration between schools and families. Strong parent–school relationships are not built through communication alone. They require trust, psychological safety, meaningful engagement, reflective leadership, and the ability to navigate difficult conversations constructively.

Drawing on international research and professional practice associated with the Anna Freud Centre and Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust, UK, the programme translates contemporary psychological perspectives into practical approaches that school leaders can apply within their own educational settings.

The programme brings together evidence-informed core learning and experiential reflective practice, creating space for both professional learning and personal reflection.

Why This Program?

Schools increasingly navigate complex relationships with families involving:

  • Differing expectations between parents and schools
  • Difficult or emotionally charged conversations
  • Miscommunication and breakdowns in trust
  • Increasing student wellbeing concerns
  • Diverse family backgrounds and perspectives
  • Challenges in meaningful parent engagement
  • The need for greater psychological safety within school communities

School leaders are often at the centre of these situations.

This program provides leaders with practical frameworks to move from parent involvement towards meaningful partnership, while strengthening their own reflective leadership capacity.

What Will You Explore?

Participants will explore key concepts and practical approaches including:

Epistemic Trust

Understanding how trust influences whether people are open to receiving, sharing, and acting on information within relationships.

Involvement vs. Engagement

Exploring the difference between simply involving parents and creating genuine, meaningful partnerships.

Parent Partnerships & Student Outcomes

Understanding how stronger collaboration between schools and families can contribute to student wellbeing, engagement, and educational outcomes.

Barriers to Partnership

Identifying the relational, communication, cultural, and institutional barriers that can prevent meaningful parent engagement.

Psychological Safety

Developing approaches that encourage openness, respectful communication, and collaborative problem-solving.

High-Stakes Conversations

Building practical strategies for navigating challenging conversations with parents while reducing defensiveness and maintaining relationships.

Reflective Leadership

Developing greater awareness of how leaders think, respond, communicate, and influence relationships within their school community.
